Spinning in Philidelpha

Wow this is a lot harder than it looks. Thank goodness for the computer and instructional video! A 20 hour lay over and I still haven't even made a foot of yarn just a big mess. I am not giving up! This is a experiment. To help me better appreciate yarn. I HAVE GREAT RESPECT!

  1. You will have success, just keep at it. I'm pretty much a wheel spinner, but when I go back to a spindle for thread thin yarn I usually use a bottom whorl spindle--they don't drop as much and have more spin.

There's a good book to look up in used books or Amazon: Spinning in the Old Way by Priscilla Gibson-Roberts. It won't take you long once you get the idea of the draft zone. The weighting is important on spindles too. Have patience with yourself.

  2. Thanks for the encouragement Angela! It is getting better now that I have discovered pencil rovings!
